Listen to Spooky Isles talk to Anthony MR Lewis about the English paranormal phenomenon of the devil dog, Black Shuck, and other hounds of hell

Anthony MR Lewis is a tour guide, amateur historian and one would say, urban adventurist here in London.

He has long loved the folklore surrounding black dogs, such as the mythic Black Shuck, the creatures that haunt the moors and villages of the English countryside bringing terror and death to all they meet.

David and Jon interviewed Anthony, who besides running Lost Valley of London, a superb website with videos about history from the capital, has been a long-time ghost tour guide who originally set up Boo Tours with Spooky Isles podcast co-host Jon Kaneko James.

Anthony spoke to us at length about the many stories and legends involving black dogs in the South of England with Jon discussing the medieval aspects of the tales. David had a cold so he didn’t say much at all.

Anthony supplied with some photos to illustrate the podcast – here they are:

Thank You, I enjoyed this very much. My home county of Lincolnshire has at least 70 examples of Black Dog Hauntings, most are well documented. However, I have done a great deal of research on the subject and I have uncovered a story of a Black Dog haunting an isolated church in the Lincolnshire fens that has yet to be documented. I will write more about this on my blog….
