Where is Britannia Adelphi Hotel?
The Britannia Adelphi Hotel is in Ranelagh Street, Liverpool, L3 5UL.
As a Beatles fan, it’s always been a dream of mine to visit the city that gave us the band that changed rock n roll for all time.
And if I should ever find myself in Liverpool, there is only one hotel I want to stay in, the very haunted Britannia Adelphi Hotel!
History Of The Britannia Adelphi Hotel
According to city records, a hotel has sat on the site of the Britannia Adelphi since at least 1826.
Prior to that, Ranaleigh Gardens – the first public recreation park – was there.
The first hotel built on the site became the property of Midland Railway in 1892. And in 1911, that hotel was replaced by the hotel we see today.
During its relatively short history, the Britannia Adelphi has played host to several politicians and celebrities.
These included American president, Franklin Roosevelt, Old blue eyes himself, Frank Sinatra, and the man who brought the UK through World War II, Winston Churchill, just to name a few.
Although the hotel has had an impressive roster of guests, it’s the ghosts that appear to be the true celebrities.
The Hauntings of The Britannia Adelphi Hotel
The hauntings of this hotel are so well known, ghost hunters from all over the country flock there to investigate its resident phantoms.
The hotel is featured in many of the city’s ghost tours. With this hotel being so popular with paranormal enthusiasts, it begs the question, who are these entities?
The Titanic Connection
The hotel’s Sefton Suite is an exact replica of the doomed ship’s first class smoking lounge.
The apparitions of three men in naval officer’s uniforms have been seen having a conversation.
One of the officers is described as being an older gentleman with a white beard leading people to believe he is the captain of the Titanic.
Whoever these ghosts are, they don’t appear to be aware of people observing them.
The Third Floor
Those who have stayed on the third floor have reported something wholly unpleasant.
Guests have reported feelings of being watched as well as feeling nauseous despite feeling fine upon checking in.
The unnerving sound of a growling animal and the disembodied voice of an angry man has been heard.
Due to this, several guests have requested to be relocated to another floor of the hotel.
The Pageboy’s Ghost
Raymond Brown was a teenage boy who was employed as a pageboy in 1961.
One day, while on duty, Raymond got trapped in the baggage lift and sadly died.
Since his untimely death, Raymond has been seen rushing about the hotel seeing to his duties.
The phantom pageboy has been known to escort guests to their rooms, only to vanish when the guest goes to thank him.
George
The ghost of a former guest, named George has been known to awaken guests as they sleep by appearing at their bedside.
George, was a guest who for unknown reasons committed suicide in the 1930s.
George is described as a man in his 30s with a pencil thin mustache.
George is also known to call out to people from a window on the Brownlow Hill side of the hotel.
What The Britannia Adelphi Hotel Offers
The Adelphi is a large, elegantly decorated luxury hotel with 402 en-suite, tastefully-decorated rooms.
The hotel, which is well known for its hospitality, has two award winning restaurants for guests to choose from.
Crompton’s French restaurant has an extensive menu of contemporary French cuisine.
If French fare doesn’t suit your taste, Jenny’s Carvery, has a selection of meat and vegetable dishes.
Out And About
The Britannia Adelphi Hotel is ideally located in the city centre, with several museums, art galleries and zoos for the kids.

I experienced two young boys about the age of 15 sat on a window ledge speaking to me smoking a cigerate, I thought they was apart of our gathering turns out they vanished. I realised when they both had flat caps on and different clothes but when I got back from the bathroom they where gone. True story
