Bodysnatching
Bodysnatching, or grave-robbing, was a common practice in the 19th century, when corpses were secretly removed from burial sites for dissection and study in medical schools. The body snatchers were also called resurrectionists and resurrection men – the most famous being Edinburgh’s Burke and Hare.
