Banshees, Beasts and Brides from the Sea: Irish Tales of the Supernatural

Banshees, Beasts and Brides from the Sea gathers Irish tales centred on supernatural traditions, legendary creatures and uncanny encounters. Its subjects include the death-warning banshee, mysterious beasts and brides connected with the sea, bringing together stories shaped by Ireland’s folklore and mythology.

Bob Curran presents these accounts as part of a broader tradition of Irish storytelling, where otherworldly beings, local beliefs and inherited memories meet. The collection sits alongside his wider writing on Irish fairies and Celtic myth, offering a compact introduction to the stories and figures that have long occupied Ireland’s supernatural imagination.
