Irish Tales from the Otherworld: Ghosts, Fairies & Evil Spirits

Irish Tales from the Otherworld brings together stories of ghosts, fairies and hostile spirits rooted in Irish oral tradition. Bob Curran presents accounts passed through generations in rural communities, where encounters with the otherworld can bring danger, disruption or lasting sorrow.

The collection includes a weaver whose bargain with the fairies has tragic consequences, a young girl who appears to invite a poltergeist into her family home, and fishermen who discover an unexplained presence aboard their boat. Elsewhere, a ghostly maid wanders the corridors of a stately house, condemned to remain there for a crime committed in life. Together, these tales portray Irish supernatural belief through stories of bargains, hauntings, fear and misfortune.
