Geoff Holder’s guide gathers reports, traditions and historical accounts linked to Loch Ness and the Inverness area. Its subjects range from Celtic gods, saints and martyrs to telepathy, exorcism, magic, mermaids and demons, drawing on both ancient and modern texts.

Alongside these supernatural and folkloric themes, the book records physical traces of the region’s darker heritage, including standing stones, tombstones, gargoyles, ruins, churches, simulacra and archaeological curiosities. More than 100 photographs accompany the entries, while notes and cross-references point towards the sources behind the accounts.
