Glamorgan Folk Tales for Children

Glamorgan Folk Tales for Children brings together traditional stories from across the South Wales county, retold for younger listeners and readers. The collection ranges from magic and adventure to sadness, fear and absurdity, with tales featuring people, animals, trees and rivers.

Among the stories are a White Lady wandering through woodland, the Salmon Children growing up beside the River Rhymney, and adventures involving a troublesome giant, Effie’s secret and an invisibility seed. Cath Little presents these inherited tales in a form suited to primary-school-aged children, while illustrations by Peter Stevenson add visual interpretation to the collection. The stories retain their links with oral tradition, inviting them to be read, told and passed on.
