About this book
Haunted Dartmoor gathers reported apparitions, legends and investigation accounts from across Devon’s best-known moorland. Kevin Hynes covers sightings of a large black hound at Hound Tor, a phantom procession near Buckfast Abbey, medieval horsemen and a cavalier associated with Chagford. The notorious Hairy Hands, blamed in local accounts for affecting motorists on the B3212, also features.
Alongside these traditions, Hynes includes eyewitness interviews and reports from investigations conducted with the Supernatural Investigations (UK) team. The book is arranged as an A–Z of haunted Dartmoor and illustrated with almost sixty photographs, presenting the moor’s ghost stories as claims, memories and recorded experiences rather than settled fact.
