Waterford Folk Tales gathers traditional stories from across County Waterford, linking its legends to the landscape in which they were told. The collection reaches back to the ancient Gaelic tribes and the ogham stones, while also preserving tales connected with later history and local memory.

Among its figures are Aoife and Strongbow, St Declan, and Eiru, Banba and Fodhla, the three river goddesses associated with the Suir, Nore and Barrow. Less familiar stories include Petticoat Loose, whose ghost is said to roam the county, and the Republican Pig, caught up in the siege of Waterford.
