Folk Horror Folk Tales

Folk Horror Folk Tales gathers traditional stories from Bob Pegg’s storytelling repertoire, with most drawn from the British Isles and others from Europe. Many are versions of ancient narratives that appear in more than one culture, shaped by recurring fears, warnings and imaginings.

The collection includes accounts of a shape-shifting serial murderer, a girl who gives birth to a cat, and four demons who have everything sewn up. Together, these tales reflect a long-standing taste for stories that are sinister, unsettling and sometimes gruesome, preserving the darker edge of traditional storytelling without separating it from the wider folklore traditions in which such narratives have travelled.
