Gazetteer of British, Scottish & Irish Ghosts

Peter Underwood’s gazetteer catalogues legends, modern reports and alleged ghostly happenings from Britain, Scotland and Ireland. Arranged alphabetically, it gathers accounts linked to towns, valleys, lochs, lakes, mountains, rivers, historic castles and houses, making it a geographical reference work as well as a collection of ghost stories.

The entries range from the Big Grey Man of Ben MacDhui, reportedly witnessed by professors, doctors and mountaineers, to disturbances associated with Sir Alexander Seton’s Edinburgh home after an ancient bone was removed from an Egyptian tomb. Other accounts concern vampire traditions, giant footsteps, battlefield glows and whispering corpses, with an index and bibliography supporting further research.
