Haunted Leicester

Haunted Leicester gathers reported ghost stories and unexplained incidents from the city and its surrounding districts. Andrew Wright’s local survey ranges from the Old Town and Castle Park to Braunstone Hall, Old Belgrave and Leicester’s suburbs, linking apparitional traditions with recognisable streets, buildings and public places.

Among the accounts are a hooded figure, a murdered landlady and a man said to walk through walls. The cathedral, opera house, pubs and other city locations each contribute their own stories, while a ‘Gallery of Ghosts’ collects further sightings and apparitions. The result is a compact portrait of Leicester’s haunted reputation, rooted in specific places and the reports attached to them.
