Peter A. McCue examines reported encounters in Britain’s woods and forests, including mysterious lights, strange animal sightings, ghostly experiences and UFO claims. The cases range from troubling reports in a Kentish wood to incidents associated with Gorebridge, Cornwall, Fife and Cannock Chase, where witnesses have described bigfoot-like figures and ghostly Roman soldiers.

The book gives particular attention to Robert Taylor’s 1979 encounter in Dechmont Wood, Scotland, and the series of UFO reports from Rendlesham Forest in 1980. McCue distinguishes between stories he regards as fabrications or doubtful testimony and accounts he considers more credible, while weighing possible psychological, environmental and paranormal explanations.
