Galway Bay Folk Tales

Galway Bay Folk Tales gathers myths, legends and local stories linked to the history of Galway Bay, ranging from the saints of the Dark Ages to modern-day sinners. Rab Fulton, a local storyteller, presents tales in which the landscape and the area’s past are shaped by extraordinary events and memorable characters.

Among the stories are quarrelsome giants whose rage is said to have created the Aran Isles, alongside an account of a corpse flying through the air during the first Galway Arts Festival. Moving between older traditions and more recent anecdotes, the collection presents Galway’s folklore as a continuing body of stories attached to its places, people and history.
