Ghostly County Durham

More than twenty County Durham locations feature in this survey of reported hauntings, including castles, hotels, pubs and a former prisoner-of-war camp. Kirkup recounts traditions involving Finchdale Priory's club-footed monk, the Singing Lady of Cauldron Snout and a shadow on Durham Castle's Black Staircase. Photographs and practical access information accompany accounts rooted in the county's buildings and landscape.
