Haunted Dundee

Haunted Dundee gathers reported apparitions, poltergeist activity and other unsettling accounts from the city and its surroundings. Geoff Holder considers the White Lady of Coffin Mill and Balgay Bridge, ghost stories connected with the ships Discovery and Unicorn, the 1883 Spring-Heeled Jack panic and the paranormal associations of the Tay Bridge disaster. Historical hauntings sit alongside more recent experiences gathered from contemporary witnesses.

Holder places each report within its local and historical setting, drawing on newspaper archives, journals, websites and modern testimony. The accounts are not presented uncritically: possible explanations and the difficulty of separating folklore from evidence are considered alongside stories that remain unresolved.
