Haunted St Andrews

Haunted St Andrews gathers reported apparitions, poltergeist cases and older supernatural traditions associated with one of Scotland’s most historic towns. Geoff Holder examines the White Lady and the Haunted Tower, including the Victorian mystery of mummified bodies discovered there, before turning to accounts from the Pends, St Leonard’s School, the cathedral, castle, university and surrounding streets.

The book also investigates the Pitmilly House poltergeist, whose alleged fire-raising activity led to an insurance payout, alongside other claims involving poltergeists, warnings of death, a strange beach encounter and a phantom village. Holder traces each story to sources such as newspapers, earlier books and online discussions, allowing the folklore and reported experiences to be considered against their documentary foundations.
