Strange Irish Tales for Children

Strange Irish Tales for Children brings together four traditional Irish stories shaped for younger readers by storyteller Eddie Lenihan. Its folklore includes King Cormac’s Fighting Academy and the tale of how the first blackbird came to Ireland, alongside further accounts involving legendary figures, magic and perilous encounters. The stories belong to the oral tradition of Irish wonder tales rather than presenting modern paranormal investigations.

Lenihan’s retellings preserve the flavour of old Irish storytelling while keeping the action accessible to children. Joseph Gervin’s illustrations accompany the collection, which offers encounters with heroes, strange happenings and otherworldly forces drawn from Ireland’s legends and inherited tales.
