The Anthology of Scottish Folk Tales: Volume II

This second anthology gathers folk tales from across Scotland, preserving stories shaped by regional customs, beliefs and dialects. The contributors are Scottish storytellers whose work forms part of The History Press’s Folk Tales series, bringing together accounts rooted in local tradition and oral storytelling.

Its cast of figures includes an elfin warrior associated with Carterhaugh Woods, a mermaid said to enchant young men off the Orkney coast, and warring wizards attempting to outwit one another atop the Cruidhe Crom. Together, these tales range from magical confrontations to dangerous encounters with beings of land and sea, offering a further selection of Scotland’s traditional lore.
