The South Shields Poltergeist

The South Shields Poltergeist documents a reported outbreak of disturbing activity in a South Shields family home between 2005 and 2006. Darren W. Ritson and Michael J. Hallowell investigate claims that objects moved without explanation, carving knives were thrown, coins appeared in mid-air and sinister telephone messages were received from apparently disabled numbers.

The account also records apparitions, unexplained sounds, physical assaults and messages left on a child’s doodle board. Drawing on first-hand testimonies, photographs, recordings and witness statements, it presents the investigators’ efforts to document events while they were still occurring. This edition includes the original case review published in the Journal of the Society for Psychical Research, alongside additional material on the investigation.
