Feline Folk Tales

Feline Folk Tales gathers 57 traditional stories in which cats take on many roles: heroes, tricksters, feared creatures, companions and figures of worship. Drawn from different parts of the world, the collection presents feline characters that can be witty, cunning, protective or downright threatening.

The tales include the Kasha from Japan, the Nunda from East Africa, El Hombre Gato from Argentina and Kisa, the Cat from Iceland. Together, they show how cats have appeared in folklore as creatures of intelligence, danger and strange power, with their behaviour often reflecting the hopes, fears and beliefs of the communities that told these stories.
