Funny Folk Tales for Children

Funny Folk Tales for Children gathers 11 traditional stories from around the world, retold by professional storyteller Allison Galbraith for younger audiences. Humour drives each tale, with animals, magical beings and comic reversals at the centre of the collection.

The stories include an explanation of why dogs are considered people’s best friends, a tale about outwitting fairies and the exploits of a shape-shifting, cartwheeling badger. Galbraith’s background in storytelling and Scottish folklore informs a collection designed to work well when read aloud, while retaining the imaginative variety of traditional oral tales. The book presents folklore as lively entertainment, with jokes, eccentric characters and situations that turn familiar storytelling patterns upside down.
