Haunted Aberdeen and District

Geoff Holder gathers reported hauntings from Aberdeen and its surrounding district, moving from the city’s historic centre to Old Aberdeen, private houses, pubs, hotels, transport routes and rural locations. The accounts include apparitions, poltergeist activity and other claimed phenomena associated with castles, chapels, churchyards and public buildings.

Among the named locations are Fyvie Castle, linked with the Green Lady; Aberdeen Central Library, where a former librarian is said to appear; the Four Mile Inn, associated with ghostly footsteps; and His Majesty’s Theatre, reputedly haunted by a theatre worker named Jake. The book also considers earlier written sources, newspaper reports and contemporary witness accounts, with an appendix of allegedly haunted places open to the public and a bibliography for further reference.
