Secret Gateshead

Kirkup explores lesser-known stories from Gateshead's past, combining local history with crime, punishment and unusual events. Among its stranger episodes are the haunted reputation of Dead Man's Arch in Bensham and a reported attempted alien abduction during the Second World War. Illustrations accompany a broader portrait of the town's hidden history, with paranormal material forming part of the collection.
