Stella C: An Account of Some Original Experiments in Psychical Research
Harry Price’s account centres on his 1923 sittings with Dorothy Stella Cranshaw, the physical medium known as Stella C. Nineteen sessions were held in London between February and July, with the proceedings recorded through controlled arrangements, plans of the séance room and observations of those present.
The experiments employed devices including a fraud-proof cage table, contact apparatus and the Telekinetoscope. Price also records temperature and pulse-rate measurements, abnormal markings on paper, movement involving séance objects and reports of psychic structures seen under red light. The book presents these incidents as experimental observations and claims, preserving a detailed example of interwar British attempts to examine mediumship through instruments, visual testimony and methodical séance records.
