In Search of the Supernatural

Peter Travis’s In Search of the Supernatural is a collection of reported hauntings drawn from his own investigations and from accounts supplied by friends and acquaintances. The emphasis is on incidents presented as carefully examined cases rather than as fictional ghost stories, placing personal testimony at the centre of the book.

Published in 1975, the volume belongs to the British paranormal and folklore tradition of compiling local reports, remembered experiences and claims of unexplained activity. Its subject matter sits comfortably alongside accounts of haunted places and other reported phenomena associated with Britain, while retaining an investigative approach to the evidence and the people who witnessed it.
