Quick Question and Answers with Neil Nixon

How long have you been investigating the paranormal? 40 years, give or take.

Do you believe in ghosts and if so, what is a ghost? Yeah, but I think physically Vic Tandy’s pragmatic explanation is the basis of ghosts. Others are real, in the minds of people reporting them.

What was your first paranormal encounter? Still waiting, though I’ve had loads of uncanny encounters with natural phenomena.

What evidence have you uncovered that makes you consider ghosts/aliens are real? Loads to do with people who met aliens and the like, which relates to my opinion of how they also might encounter ghosts

Are you a psychic? Do you consider psychics a help or hindrance for paranormal investigations? Not a psychic – but think the bulk of them more helpful than hindering (though it’s down to individuals) I once saw three psychics strongly disagree on the causes of a crop circle (which had been hoaxed anyway!),

How do you prepare for a ghost hunt/paranormal investigation? I’m prepared for what I usually encounter, which is random people reporting the most bizarre experiences with UFOs, usually by way of coming up after a talk or contacting me through my website

What tips would you give a person going on a paranormal investigation for the first time? Go with others for whom it’s a routine matter to investigate such things.

What is your favourite piece of paranormal investigation equipment? Seriously, a weighty academic book written by sceptics who know their (non paranormal) subject well and have wandered into paranormal territory

Tell us about your favourite moment from a paranormal investigation. Valued more than a favourite but the time MI5 chased me across Kent taught me a lot that was useful.

What makes a great haunted location? Reliable hauntings – in ufology the Hessdalen valley in Norway is such a place.

If you could investigate an haunted location, where would it be? The neural pathways of repeat experiencers.

Read any good paranormal books or watched any paranormal TV lately? Recently been re-reading some John Keel – The Cosmic Question (aka The Eighth Tower).
