Animals, Beasties and Monsters of Scotland gathers seventeen Scottish folk tales featuring creatures both familiar and fantastical. Kelpies, the greedy trows of Orkney, the Shetland wulver and the Blue Men of the Minch appear alongside Dundee’s dragon, the legendary haggis Moragus and Scotland’s last giants.

Lea Taylor retells stories linked with places including Skye, Shetland, Orkney and Dundee, drawing on traditions of magical animals, giants, curses and shape-shifting beings. Sylvia Troon’s illustrations accompany the tales, while a glossary provides additional help with the stories’ vocabulary and references.
