Haunted Rochester

Haunted Rochester gathers reported ghost stories from the historic Kent city, organising its account around the High Street, Eastgate House, Restoration House, Rochester Cathedral and Rochester Castle. A final section records other locations associated with apparitions, unexplained sounds and lingering local traditions.

The High Street alone is linked to more than 40 stories, while individual accounts include the alleged ghost of a young woman at the Nag’s Head pub and the spectre of Lady Blanche at Rochester Castle. Rochester’s Roman and medieval past provides much of the setting, with the authors connecting older buildings, streets and public houses to stories recorded in local memory and published reports.
