The End of Borley Rectory

Harry Price’s sequel to The Most Haunted House in England assembles his account of reported disturbances at Borley Rectory, the Essex house associated with footsteps, moving objects, bell-ringing and the apparition of a nun. It begins with a synopsis of the case from 1863 to 1939, bringing earlier incidents and witnesses into the later narrative.

The book records attempted exorcisms, investigations by observers and the Cambridge Commission, then considers possible explanations for the phenomena. Price also discusses the alleged Marianne appeals, the Waldegrave family, physical clues and the rectory’s destruction, before addressing whether the reported nun’s story ended with the building. Appendices provide further observers, a bibliography and an index.
