The Screaming Skulls, and Other Ghost Stories

The Screaming Skulls, and Other Ghost Stories gathers purportedly true ghost tales alongside traditional legends collected under Elliott O'Donnell's name. Its accounts describe apparitions, haunted houses, creeping hands, vengeful phantoms and tortured wraiths, with several stories presented as reports drawn from witnesses or contemporary records.

The collection also reflects O'Donnell's claimed work as a ghost hunter, including vigils and investigations into disturbing phenomena. Rather than concentrating on one locality, it brings together stories connected with homes, buildings and incidents marked by fear, death or persistent haunting. The result is a traditional anthology of reported supernatural encounters, shaped by the storytelling conventions and paranormal interests of mid-20th-century Britain.
