The Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham B5 4DS

Backstage whispers, jangling keys, and a managerly figure checking doors after hours. A grey-clad lady drifts the auditorium; electricians complain of lights that “answer back” during focus checks.

Birmingham Council House, Birmingham B1 1BB

After-hours staff smell unexpected flowers and glimpse a Victorian gentleman in velvet and red tie in the Mayor’s suite. Footsteps cross the tiled landing; no shoes follow.

Birmingham New Street Station, Birmingham B2 4QA

Built over graves and burdened by tragedies. Platform sightings of a uniformed man in the old waiting room; a suited Victorian figure near the concourse. Sudden temperature drops are common on late shifts.

Sarehole Mill, Hall Green, Birmingham B13 0BD

Steelhouse Lane Lock-up, Birmingham B4 6NW

The Old Castle Ruins & Cliff Railway Area, Bridgnorth WV16

Avoncroft Museum, Bromsgrove B60 4JR

The Four Crosses Inn, Cannock WS11 1RX

St Mary’s Guildhall, Coventry CV1 5RN

Medieval hall where a grey lady and a small child are seen; visitors step into the Drapers’ Room and burst into tears for no reason. Cold zones linger on warm days.

A woman in silk skims the lake path; upstairs, whispered arguing fades as you reach the door. Staff avoid one landing after dark.

Kenilworth

Kenilworth Castle, Kenilworth CV8 1NG

Elizabethan romance; medieval grief. A white figure on the tower stairs, and armour clanking on still nights. Guides hear low chanting in the ruins.

Kidderminster

Drakelow Tunnels, Kidderminster DY11 5RJ

Clergy shapes in the chancel; a woman in dove-grey at the porch. On quiet afternoons the organ murmurs a bar or two without a hand.

Lichfield Cathedral, Lichfield WS13 7LD

The ‘Ladies of the Close’ glide by the Chapter House; a robed figure crosses the nave at evensong when no verger’s on duty.

Ludlow

England’s largest Tudor townhouse: doors that lock themselves, a young girl by a Victorian desk, and a woman who walks through a long-vanished doorway.
